Aims

The nurse on completion of this course will be able to demonstrate ability to plan and carry out job responsibilities assigned to them under the multipurpose workers scheme.

Aims:

           The Basic Degree Course in Nursing is geared to the health needs of the individual,family, community and the country at large.

  1. To prepare nurses with a second educational programme in nursing to enable them function as efficient members of the health team, beginning with the competencies for first level positions in all kinds of health care setting in rural and urban area.

  2. To prepare graduates to assume responsibilities as professional competent nurses & midwives in providing promotive, preventive, curative & rehabilitative services.

  3. To help nurses in their professional and personal development so that they can able to make maximum contribution to the society as useful and productive individuals, citizens as well as efficient nurses.

  4. To serve as a base for further professional education and specialization in nursing.

  5. To prepare nurse to abreast with the latest professional knowledge skills & technologies as well as primary health care principals & to implement same for providing nursing care.

  6. To help nurses develop an ability to co-operate with members of the health team in the prevention of disease, promotion of health and rehabilitation of the sick.


Objectives

  1. Explain the principles of healthful living related to all age groups in the community.
